Title: The Tyranny of Distance.
Post by: odlids on June 17, 2011,
One of the downers of living in Australia is that my Co-Op shipments take a little bit longer than my US counterparts do. <;d

So whilst most of you guys have received your SS Hubs and controllers mine are somewhere between Miami and sunny Sydney or worse still sitting in customs and quarantine out at Mascot AP. <fp.

Of course one must always look on the bright side, hopefully all the hardware/firmware/software teething problems will be ironed out by the time my parcel arrives sometime next week. <pop.. <pop.. <pop.. <pop..

Oh the joys of living in the Antipodes. 8)

Cheers

I'm in the same boat. Waiting waiting waiting....

But at least I do have my lights, and a way to test them this weekend.  ;D

You're absolutley right! No shortage of things to do whilst we wait, stars, cables, frames, and acres of coro to be cut and hot melted. Not to mention the sequencing!!!!!

Sequencing, yikes. I had a look at vixen, started to make a small sequence to test a single flexible strip, I don't know how people can sequence 100s of channels for a whole song with something like that.... So many many boxes.....

It was quicker to write my own test  program to control the lights. :)

Title: Well travelled smart string hubs and controllers

Dave, have you got your package yet?
(Has anybody else in Australia got their hubs & controllers yet?)

I am starting to get a bit concerned about mine.  :'(
Look at the tracking info from one of my boxes....

Last time I checked Australia was not in the UK.
Fingers crossed that it will be okay, and make it here.
I guess that is why we had insurance on this one! : ;D

My tracking still says the same as odlids.

I have found from previous coops that it has been taking between 20 to 25 days to get to Brisbane from the States.  The wait is worth it I say :)

Most of my dealings with USPS have originated from the west coast or from Colorado (go Sparkfun) and have varied from a record of 5 days up to 25 days with an average of around 9 to 12 days.

I have no experience with delivery from the east coast.

The mail system is a truely wonderous thing. It will arrive when it arrives and not a minute earlier............

I remember one year we sent Australian calendars off to our British Columbian based relatives for christmas. They arrived to all 3 of their recipients with in 2 days of each other, just a year and a half too late. All had gone to Montreal for "security screening", all had been opened and resealed multiple times, one was relatively unscathed but the other two looked as though they had encountered an industrial shredder in their travels. The nice postal people had attached a note apologising for the delay and the damage, and suggested that we should post earlier to avoid the christmas rush... <fp.

No apologies needed or expected, the world is a big place............

It still amazes me that I can order bits and pieces from the other side of the world and they actually arrive here at all!!!

Cheers
