Title: ridiculous Question?
Post by: mitch09 on November 06, 2013,
I have what may be a ridiculous question that I should know the answer to...but I don't.
I am trying to help a friend get started with some extra equipment I have. He has purchased a couple of the SString flex strips from the wiki. I have some extra SString controllers a pixelnet flashed usb dongle, and a passive 4-port pixelnet hub.

Will this work? Or do I have to use a Active Hub?

It will work but you will also need a 12V power supply.  The smart hub is only needed if you need to create DMX output along with the PixelNet output.  Since the SSC's are PixelNet devices, no DMX is needed so the passive 4 port hub will work.

THat should work, provided you add a 12v power supply to the passive 4-port hub which is at least 8 amps, preferrably more like 10 amps to follow the 80% of max power rule. The PS would be the only tough part to find.

I've got the power covered. Thanks for the quick responses.
