Ray Wu's Rigid Strips

Is anyone using Ray Wu's rigid strips?

I'm thinking of using them for a megetree for next year's show.

I've seen several variations using smart strings - just weighing the use of rigid strips instead.

1 meter each - I was going to use four end-to-end for a 12' megatree.

Just wondering why you would not use the Flex strip which is cheaper than the rigid strip. You could tie it to strapping.

My preference is rigidity. If I were to use the flex strip, I would probably still tie it to something rigid(PVC).

You probably don't want them all that rigid for this use.  Flexibility helps to protect them from the wind.  I really don't see the benefit in using rigid strips for this.

The way the cables come out of the end does not work well for placing them end to end. The spacing between the nodes at the joint will be a little larger than the regular spacing, even with the cables removed...

I'd go for a flex strip mounted on something - PVC pipe, wood strip, aluminum channel, etc...

I agree. You would still have to mount the rigid strips on something. Most likely strapping material or webbing.

I wondered about the wires coming out the end and its affect on spacing.

What about using rigid strips as smart snow tubes? Can attach them back to back to get 360 effect. And already incased in plastic.

shaunkad I edited my post to add "smart" snow tubes. But you responded before my edit.
Yes Fast tubes may be less but they are 1 color.

if you mount them to the edge of your roof facing out, you wont need to use the back side
