custom length c-9 retrofit led

I am going to make custon length C-9 stings and have the retro fit led from CDI in them. My ? is does the string have to have a set # of lights or can I make them what ever size I need. Example : sting 1 has 20 bulbs and string 2 has 30 bulbs, I am hoping with the Retro fit bulbs you can make any size sting needed if not what do I need to do to make shorter strings.

every bulb is 120 volts so you can go as long as the Amperage of the wire + the voltage drop will allow.
