I do appreciate the job that the co-op managers do, and I think the site is fabulous and I thank RJ and everyone involved for that. I apologize for not putting that in my original post on the thread that was locked before I could respond.
And also, I apologize for anyone that was upset by my post...it was meant to start a discussion on what I could do to get into more co-ops, not open old wounds...I didn't realize there were other posts of the same subject.
Again, my bad, I apologize.

Sour grapes on my part...probably. Lets just call it me having bad luck (I don't believe in luck) and leave it at that.

Moving on...
Last year, I got in almost every co-op I wanted. For some reason, this year I missed all of them except wireless. Now, my work blocks this site and a few other xmas sites so getting in during the day or on some Saturdays is a no-go. So the "just log in more" comment doesn't work in my case. I can log in from my phone, but it is a pain and takes like 20 mins to launch the site...so I need to get notify working, so I can log in from my phone if I need to do so to get into a co-op.

I hit the button for notify in the current co-op group, but I haven't received any emails. My mailserver doesn't block...everything goes thru & my client parses the content.
Is there any way to check to make sure that notifications from the co-op board are working for me?

to the same notify for the porch, or new member area, for testing, as they get new topics all the time, and you can test every day.

A new topic, 'Aether 2 COOP - OPEN for orders', has been made on a board you are watching.

You can see it at
http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?topic=8310.new#new

More topics may be posted, but you won't receive more email notifications until you return to the board and read some of them.

The text of the topic is shown below:
This is a coop for the Aether II. Info on this item can be found here: http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?board=31.0 and in the wiki. This coop is for Kits that will include the PCB with parts. There will not be a separate PCB option available with this coop.

By joining this Coop you also agree that the Coop manager, DLA (as a board to also include all administrators, moderators, and members) shall not be held for any liability. You are joining this Coop at your own risk.

As with any Coop this Coop is subject to the forum rules. These rules can be reviewed using the following link.

http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?topic=111.0

There are lenses being offered as separate kits on the coop based on an availability in stock at the time of order placement. These will go to members in order of their orders being placed until they are all gone. Any member left that ordered them will not receive them and will receive a refund for the lens kit cost as we will not back-order any since this would hold up the coop shipment for everyone else.

The manual and BOM are in the wiki. http://diylightanimation.com/wiki/index.php?title=Equipment

The kits do not include the light housing or 12v AC Landscape Transformer the member will need to purchase these separate. It does use the same housing as the original Aether.

The Coop will be limited to 250 Aether II kits. This Coop will close on April 9th 2012 at 11:00 PM Eastern Time or when 250 Aether kits have been reached. Once the Coop is closed, I will send each member a PM with the details of their order and what payment is due. Full payment is expected when the coop is closed since orders cannot be made until all members have paid. Please get your PayPal payments in as soon as you get the Coop invoice PM since the LED's may get in short supply. Please ensure your PayPal address info is up to date.

For shipping, one Aether II kit with no lenses will fit in a small priority box for $5.35 to the US. Anything more than that will have to go in a larger box ($11.35 to the US for a medium which will hold a lot of kits) Final shipping costs will be sent with the payment PM.

Here are the pricing details at initial ordering amounts. Pricing includes 3% PayPal and 3% Coop fees. As always, higher numbers should reduce pricing. We will need a minimum of 50 Aether II kits to make this coop feasible. That should not be an issue based on feedback, but does need to be made clear.

Kit 1 - Lynx Aether II kit – PCB with parts (limit of 250 kits)
Qty 50 - $76.13

Kit 2 - NS model lens - Narrow spot which is 8 deg (currently 73 in stock)
Qty 10 - $5.28

Kit 3 - SP model lens - Spot which is 15 deg (currently 112 in stock)
Qty 10 - $5.28

Kit 4 - NF model lens - Narrow flood which is 22 deg (currently 186 in stock)
Qty 10 - $5.28

Kit 5 - FL model lens - Flood which is 32 deg (currently 216 in stock)
Qty 10 - $5.28

Kit 6 - WF model lens - Wide flood which is 45 deg (currently 194 in stock)
Qty 10 - $5.28

Post with the quantity of each kit you wish to order in this thread. Please do not post questions or your thoughts in the Coop thread. Start a new thread in the correct area for these. Coop threads are strictly for people requesting or modifying orders. If you later wish to change your quantity please post again clearly stating that this is an update to a previous order and how many you wish it to be now.

Change your order as you wish during the ordering portion of the Coop, but please make sure I can tell what you are changing and desired numbers. Please check the order list that follows to make sure I don't miss your order or any changes as the Coop continues and at the end of ordering.

If you have any questions please post a new thread to help keep the Coop thread clean.

If you wish for insurance on the package you will need to check for the rate at USPS.com and add this to your PayPal payment. Then you must include in the PayPal comments that you want $xxx value insurance on the package. We cannot be responsible for lost or damaged uninsured packages once dropped off to USPS and we have a confirmation showing that they accepted and shipped it.

Thanks,
-Keith

I was having an issue not receiving notifications and it turned out it that gmail was putting them in the spam folder. I had to go into gmail and mark them as "not spam" and everything cleared up. Like Steve said, if you set notify on another topic that has more activity, you can test it.

And depending on how technically astute you are, there are ways of browsing remotely. A few of my prior employers had various blocks, however the it department left port 21 open so they could use ssh from home. I set up a Linux box at home, and used ssh from work to home, then set up some port forwarding so could remotely control the Linux gui. Worked like a charm. All of the employers were international companies with thousands of employees. Where there's a will, there's a way.... Or necessity is the mother of invention, whichever you like :))

I also use Tapatalk. It is a great app that lets you quickly see and browse forum threads and PMs. I use it on Android, but there is also an iPhone version available.

Tapatalk doesn't work on my el-cheapo phone. Also, sometimes I'm in the lab and phones don't work from there.
diyc is already listed as one of my safe senders, so no loss to spam folder or trash folder.

I'll try the notify from other groups and see what happens.

Thanks to all
