Tarpley's Tree
« on: November 26, 2009, »
Greetings,,,

To show Rick that John's not the only one plumb crazy, here is a solution to showing off part of the Christmas village this year.  Still finishing it up, but this is the basic idea.

Greetings,,,

After all, why do you think part of the song refers to 11 pipers piping?

Wow - very unique! I can't quite tell what the discs are made from? The "trunk" looks pretty substantial!

Neat!

The pipe is 1 inch galvanized.  With 4 inch pvc to cover the wires between levels.  The discs are 3/4 inch plywood, with a slosh of white Kilz primer/sealer to cut down on dark shadows, and help extend the life of the wood, as well as knock down the wood dust.  The discs are bolted together and it's quite sturdy.  Didn't want any problems with village pieces being kicked around.

Larry:  Yep, went ahead and posted pics before it's fully done.  Still covering up the levels with snow and placing buildings and people.  And gotta sequence it.  Have several trains to choose from, in order to move the materials to and from the Christmas Tree Mine.  Gotta dig deep to find the best trees...
