Smart String Hub - Case #2
I do have a question for one that are using the battery box How are you keeping the PC power supply from sliding around ?
at this time I thinking on using Velcro on the bottom of the power supply and inside of the battery box to keep from sliding around.
I like to see what others are doing or just let the power supply sit freely..

Been looking at the old posting  Smart String Hub - Case

I tie the box down so it can't move. Everything else just sits in the box. I Put my board on stilts so it lies flat over the power supply, but still leaves room for ample airflow.

I put a couple of wood boards in the bottom of the case just in case it got any water inside (it did not) and just let my power supply sit on top of them loose.  There were two notches in the top edge of the bottom of the case that 1/2" pvc just happened to fit it and I had junk pieces laying around.  I screwed the hub to one of the two pvc pieces, but not the second since the holes did not line up.  The hub just sits on top of the pvc pieces.  Never got water in it, but it is on my front porch under roof, although it did get wet from blowing rain a couple of times.  This year I am going to try to fit in the ether dongle and a POE ethernet adapter to see if I can have nothing but power going in to the case and still talk to the etherdongle (and maybe a conductor) using my ethernet connections from inside the house.  Also this year I will need two battery boxes in order to support a second hub as I expand my use of smart strings.

Mine just sits free on the bottom of the box.  I mean the box just sits there on the ground ... Usually covered with snow.   I put rebar over the box to secure it to the ground.  Low tech and cheap.

If using the battery box, don't forget to seal up the two vents on the top...

I used hot-melt glue to secure teh PSU to teh bottom of the case - the hub is on wooden dowels and sits above the PSU.

I caulked up my vents and then used a little black spray paint.  Worked good.

i tape the vents with black electrical tape underneath, then fill the holes from the top with liquid electrical tape.
To rule the entire tri-state area!  What's that? Perry the Platypus!!!

Hot glue works well on the vents
