Ok I was not planning on using the DMX out of the SS hub, but i am having timing issues and want to make sure that it is not in my wireless. So I have my jumpers on Hub 1 set to Pixelnet 1 Universe 1 and DMX 1. Then I have an Express plugged into the DMX out of the hub with a start channel of 49 and I cannot get any response from the LE. I am running LSP for my software, but if I plug in my DMX tester (Just an led on/off) to the Cat5 out of the hub and no lights. What am I doing wrong?
Addition. I know that signal is getting there because nodes on the tree for those channels are lighting.

Same problem here, but I assumed it was because of my improper resistor at the top of the board. Swapped that out, and still no DMX. I'm going to start replacing the 485 chips in case I toasted one when it was way too hot.

Whats your refresh rate set to in LSP? I've found it can make quite a difference on some issues.

Can I mention something here??
You can't send DMX to the hub, Only Pixelnet.
The hub only understand Pixelnet and is capable of sending out dmx if needed.
So if you setup xLights and set the dongle as pixelnet then you should be able to control the LE with the Lightning Test option
Hope that helps

Same is true in LSP.
Use Lynx dongle flashed to pixel net.
Plug LE into DMX out with all jumpers on 1 on the Hub.
Configure controller as pixelnet not as LE in LSP.
As long as you keep your DMX and Pixelnet channel numbers clean it should work fine.

Everything is set as pixelnet in LSP. Smart Strings working OK. All jumpers on Hub set to 1. Channel set to 49-64 on LE. No output.

I was referring to the DMX tester unless it has a pixelnet mode.

Does the LE output if you use the hardware test in LSP sequencer for a single controller?
In LSP does the configure controller show the correct DMX channels?
In LSP on configure output are all the dongles listed correctly?
Sorry but these were all corrections I had to make before the hub DMX started working for me.

I was testing at the LE. Would it not work there either?

No Problem I appreciate all of the help! Yes LSP channels are set to 49-64 with controller settings to pixelnet controller type. The smart strings hooked to this hub are working.

I had the same problem and although all my soldering looked good under a magnifying glass the problem did not go away until I reheated all the joints around the DMX, the jumper and the PIC. Does not take long to reheat the joints and it is free so give that a go.

I'll give it a try.

Your Pixelnet channels start after 64 correct?
-
In LSP Yes. I have not reconfigured the sscs yet.

An Update. I ran a Cat5 cable out of my house to the LE straight from my dmx dongle and the show played exactly the same! Horrible that is. So from that I determined that it is not the wireless causing my issue. I went back to wireless for the time being, but would still like to figure out why the dmx would not work. I also tried to get the dmx on my second hub on universe 2 and still nothing. I am sure that I am just missing something in the setup somewhere.

If your using the LSP scheduler to run your show there is some known problems that David is currently working on to correct ASAP. I can't even get mine to run it just crashes and I took my Smart Strings out of my display this year so I am down to a channel count of 112. I am forced to go Xlights till the problem is corrected.
-
Are you running LOR sequences which were exported from LSP ?
-
Check to be sure you programmed your PIC.
A hub will run pixelnet even with an unprogrammed PIC. :)

Hey Guys, thanks for the help, but I went away from running all DMX this season. I am going to try and figure it all out before take down next year. Wow that sounds like a long time! :o
-
tonight, i realized i also had no dmx out...
i checked the programmer, the pic had programming loaded, but wrong checksum,
i updated to the one in the wiki, and dmx out now works.
i checked the other hub, and same thing. bad checksum showing as 827C instwad of 8196.
hope this works for you too

bout gave myself a heatattack, i connected the pickit 3 to my SS active hub to update the firmware. i applied power, and my power led lit up. i wasnt expecting that!

I'll give this a try after the season. I am going to tryand go back to DMX again before take down. I want this to work next year! Thanks for the info.
