Display for whom? Advice needed
« on: November 28, 2012, »
Hey All,
Mrs and I are at odds (surprise) over this years display....and I need your advice.

We are having a open house this year. My bride of 17 years want to show off the house and her 27 inside trees.
I get to do the outside, but she wants the fancy blinky-blink in the back yard for 1 night of guests vs the front yard  for a month of blinky-blink.

You can only see a sliver of the back yard from the front of the house and I think would be a waste of effort for only a few people to see.

Your thoughts?

Any room for compromise?  Some in front and back?

Me personally, I jump on any opportunity to get my wife more engaged in the outside lights ... If you had more lead time cold have been good excuse for more investment

I agree with you though, if it has to be one or other, go front yard ... I assume the few people seeing the backyard would also be invited to join the masses who can see your front yard, so they won't be excluded ... If a private showing is necessary, invite them over at 2 am.

I have static lights and illuminated ornaments for the back yard, moving deer, lights on the fence and such  already up, but she wants more of the smart stuff ....more flashy stuff back there.  I really dont have enough time or $$ to do both locations.

My big arguement is that you have to come in the front and will see it anyway......

I agree EXPAND, EXPAND, EXPAND, when your done in the back move them to the front. Now I think I need to add some to the back yard. We sit in the back room and watch TV, cannot see the light in the front from there, it would be nice to see some light out there just to help with the Christmas Cheer. I know my wife would like it, and when we have family over for Christmas it would be great for them as well. I think it may help drive may neighbors even crazier. I just want to know why I did not think of adding some light out there myself.

Oh hope everyone is keeping CHRIST in Christmas and not moving to the social acceptable HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Hats off again to RJ and his wonderful toys, Where does he get them? LOL.

I don't have any animation in the back, but I do have my deck and gutters covered with static lights.  The neighbors behind us appreciate and we like it.  Maybe I should start putting some of my extra stuff in the back.  Might be a good way to play with the conductor I promised myself i would build once the big show is running.

If you want more in the back yard with out to much more expense maybe you could "clone" some of your elements to the back yard by running the same channel to the back yard?

Or use a cheap Mr Christmas or some other lightshow in a box solution.
