Rick's Smart String Window Frames
« on: October 17, 2014, »
Hi Folks,

My window frames have been in used since Dec 2011. They are the first batch of string nodes from Ray and SSC v1 no mods. Since 2012 they start their season in early October and don't come down until after Valentines Day. I only had 3 nodes die on me and that was their first use in 2011. Since than I have done nothing but attach them to the house. For some reason this past summer something new happen to them while sleeping in the attic. The base of the nodes started to turn brown. Now they have been working just fine all of this month doing their Halloween Orange and Purple color scheme. Just amaze that something that was built in 2011 and cutting edge is still working just fine thank you RJ.

See attach of one of the nodes.

Wow almost looks like rust of some sort but I find that hard to believe too.  My 3 year old nodes are pretty yellow now like yours, just minus the brown :)

It does look like the discoloration that often occurs in the bathroom tub sealant.   I would suspect microscopic bubbles of air or moisture trapped in the sealant.
