I would prefer to stick with DIYLA gear but this 27 channel controller will work well for me.  I feel like a traitor...

RJ please create a 24 channel (3x8) dmx controller that outperforms Rays!   ;D

You ARE a Traitor...    I don't know what to say....     >:D

It would be nice to have one that can handle 30-40 amps. I would buy that for a dollar!

It all starts out with an innocent dc controller, then next thing you know your looking at 682s and 5v nodes...
Sam, who is happy he flashed his etherdongle with newest firmware!

I'm sure the "traitor" comment was meant as a joke, but I hope that this community is about the general DIY attitude about assembling the right combination of pieces that will make YOUR display, or MY display successful.  Sometimes this means building something that doesn't exist anywhere but here... sometime making stuff here work with stuff from there... and sometimes it is discussing about what we like to see, but doesn't exist anywhere... YET!

RJ has made a lot of really cool stuff, but he can't create everything that people ask for.  No doubt, many of the things that have cropped up in Ray's store and other places have happened because of the leadership that RJ has established.

If RJ can work on conductors and EtherDongles and let the easy stuff for others... that is goodness. :)

Good comments Steve.  This whole blinky thing is starting to evolve...

And this guy uses the same Ray27 controller to create a 9-segment RGB arch.

Nice.

In this example, the person took a dumb string -- or multiple dumb strings, and cut them into 9 equal segments.  you could make this however long you choose.  each segment was attached to 3 channels from this Ray27 controller.

so, some RGB dumb strings... a power supply...  some pvc.... cat5 and wire to connect the segments to the controller...  and you have a nice DMX-controlled arch, using only 27 channels.

you can do the same with the MR16... but 5 segments, instead.

the 9-segment arches using 27 channels will allow you to create 18 arches in a single DMX universe.

of course, the same effect can be created with the same channel counts if you used a smart string controller and smart strings.  just use the new grouping feature to create 9 groups in each arch.
