Hello,
This evening I put together the following basic diagram to further document my understanding of how the DLA DMX wireless devices can be used. I believe this is a fairly basic setup, which utilizes the following current devices;
- (1) Personal Computer
- (1) Lynx USB Dongle
- (1) Lynx Express (TX/RX) in TX (transmit mode)
- (2) Lynx Express (TX/RX) in RX (receive mode)
- (1) Lynx Express without daughter board
- (1) Lynx Express with Express Receiver (EX/RX)
- (2) Lynx Express SSR4 with DMX options
(http://diylightanimation.com/wiki/images/4/4b/DLA_DMX_Basic_Wireless_Example.jpg)
In this example if you were to set this up you would be able to send DMX signals wirelessly from your PC to three devices able to receive the transmitted DMX signals. These three DMX receivers (RX) would then transmit DMX signals to four different devices. With all four of these devices the you could sequence 40 different channels.
Have I grasped these wireless concepts correctly?

Greetings,,,
Minor quibbles. In this diagram you would have ac power going into the tx/rx units also, at least until it comes to the dc wallwarts. And the first unit on the right lists in the bubble as a ssr4, instead of a LE.
Otherwise, looks good.

I think you mean Lynx Wireless (TX/RX) instead of Lynx Express (TX/RX)
The wiki does have diagrams in it for wired and wireless networks.
I am guessing control out means ac cords to lights. Since the only Lynx controller that puts out control lines to a SSR would be the Freestyle.

Hi Rick R.,
I labeled devices in the diagram according to how they are displayed in the WIKI.
I agree with you that "Lynx Wireless (TX/RX)" sounds more meaningful and descriptive of the product; however, as it stands now it is referenced by the WIKI as "Lynx Express (TX/RX)."
My understanding of the SSR4+DMX option is that it can be used standalone from the Freestyle. The SSR4 with out the DMX option would though require the implementation of a Lynx Freestyle controller.
"control out" was my generic way of saying AC cords to lights.

I think the Express (TX/RX) was just a copy and paste oversight
I changed it to Wireless (TX/RX)
I was away a lot for personal reasons and there is a lot of mistakes that need to be cleaned up in the wiki
Cheers

Rick R.,
I have noticed a lot of potential confusing points on the WIKI. I have a good background from my proffesional networking career with technical writing and diagrams. Would be glad to assist as needed or requested.
