How to setup second hub?
« on: November 30, 2012, »
How do I set the jumpers so that my 16 port passive hub is an extension beyond my active hub.

I want my active hub to be channels
1-4096
and my passive hub be
4097-8192

I see pixenet and universe as jumpers on my hubs.

i thought pixelnet would be set to 2 on the second passive hub, it didnt work.

thanks

I believe that is correct and then the first node on the 2 universe is set to channel 1 on the SSC and 4097 in the sequence software.

I believe both jumpers need to be set to 2 on the second hub.

This is from the PDF in the wiki, I hope it helps.

Understanding Channel Numbers
HubPixelNet     Jumpers   SSC Channel #    LSP Channel #
1                      1 & 1        1 - 4096              1 - 4096
2                      2 & 2        1 - 4096             4097 – 8192
3                      3 & 3         1 - 4096            8193 -12288
4                      4 & 4         1 - 4096            12289- 16384

Ok;

My first light show is in the books.

But i need to do something to align the start channels.

I programmed my 20 x 120- strings (7200 channels)

String 1: channel 1- 360
String 2: Channel 361 - 720

...

String 12: channel 3961 - 4321
..
String 20: channel 6831-7200

The mega tree was beautiful, But when patterns got to string 12, they all shifted the rgb colors. Reds became either blue/green. Not sure what.
Pixel 1 was no longer at the bottom of the strand.

So i am guessing i cannot cross the 4096 boundary. As soon as i did, colors shifted.
kind of a cool effec, but not what i wanted.

How do you all handle crossing a pixelnet boundary?

Do i need to put out zeroes to fill in the pseudo string 12 to go to 4096 and then start the real string 12
on Pixelnet 2, SSC channel #1 (ch 4097)?

channel 4097 is in the 2nd universe, you can't have a hub access channels from more than one universe

you can shift all the addresses by (i think 135?) to have the split fall on a natural segment of your ssc's

you can splice in another ssc to divide the string into a before 4096 section, and an after 4096 section, but you will still need to change the channel numbers where nodes lie, as 4096 isn't evenly divisible by 3.

To rule the entire tri-state area!  What's that? Perry the Platypus!!!

Ok; i am going to make a new ability in nutcracker.

I will prompt for  multiple nc files and create one larger vix file from it. Since i am using Vixen this season, if i get time i will make it also work on lor, and hls, lsp and msq files will need to wait for next year.

So here is what i think as channel assignments for my 3 16 post hubs

I will make a form that i will fill in

dmx.nc
star.nc
dummy1.nc
A~f149.nc (This is my mtree)
dummy2.nc
A~f152.nc (This is my arches)
A~f162.mc (This is my boys window)
A~f163.nc (This is the guest window)

I will name this collection, Wizards in Winter.

It will then stitch all of these files together and produce one vix/vir file.

I will start coding and see if my idea works

thanks
