Do you have a USB dongle connected to your computer?

If so normally it does not get com port 1. That is normally assigned to a onboard serial port. If you don't have a USB dongle then there is no need to enabled a output for it. If you don't see another com port and you do have a USB dongle then did you install the FTDI drivers?

thanks rick. turns out the ftdi drivers weren't installed properly. switched everything to com 2 and the preview starts to play now and plays the music, but is not showing the lights on the preview. just another hurdle for me to figure out. and i do have a usb dongle connected to my computer.

thanks
