Right now it is about 4 or 5 days. Later in the season demand will be greater but time extends because of the amount.

Better than some strings from another vendor. I ordered  Aug 1st and am still waiting. They arrived in anaheim Aug 16. Yesterday they arrived in atlanta. I am in oklahoma. Looks like my lights are touring America.

I just talked to Ray the other day and ordered more pixel strings, and a few module strings.  He told me that there was now about a 7 - 12 day processing time, and than the standard 3 - 5 day for DHL/FedEx.  I don't know about any of his other products though. My last order made on the 28th of Aug is due to be here on the 7th.  So I can tell he is getting busy and orders are already taking longer than normal.

If you are not ordering from Ray via DHL and are using a different China vendor, I would say the latest would be next week in order to get them in by the end of Oct/first part of Nov.  I received a notice from one of my suppliers in China that normally ships postal, saying "about 3-7 work days delay due to HK/China post began to check product with battery"..  what ever that means.  I guess the inspection is getting tighter when shipping via mail.

I concur with Kevin.  I placed an order with Ray on 8/17 and it hasn't shipped yet.  To Ray's credit he has kept me updated with a couple of emails indicating that he "needed more time for production".  He's supposed to ship mine this week (fingers crossed).  If you order something in stock I suspect you'd get it pretty quickly.

I paid for my order on the 14th of August (which starts the clock), It shipped on the 30th of August, and I received it on the 4th of September...... It's like Christmas at my house right now going through all the new goodies. Of course DHL showed it in Cincinnati yesterday.....but the DHL guy was knocking on my door in Austin, TX at about 5:30 last night.

goof advice for be when you give him your list for a price quote. ask if everything is in stock, that way you'll get realistic expectations when you place your order, and have a chance to cross off stuff if you don't want to wait for the rest of it.

I just ordered and paypaled the order last Friday. He shipped Monday his time.

I had a power supply that I had ordered a year ago that failed and he is replacing it. That's customer service!  ;D

Will post when I receive the shipment here in Atlanta GA

I think everything depends on what you order.  I just ordered some dumb strings and asked for a lead time.  He said he had some in stock.  Back in June I order 8 flexstrips, connectors and a tester and had them in my hands in about 8 days.  Always best to send him an email and ask.  Always order via email as well to get combined shipping that will be better than you get from aliexpress.  Also you can pay him using paypal and not get hassled with foreign exchange fees on the transaction.  At least I have never had to pay an exchange fee except for the first time I ordered and paid using the website.

Still waiting for my order from 8/17 to ship, so it definitely depends on what you order.  I've been using PayPal as well to avoid the extra credit card fees for the foreign transaction.  You do lose the escrow protection of ordering from AliExpress directly but I think Ray has a proven track record that I'm not too concerned about that.

My order that was placed on  9/1 arrived at my doorstep a few hours ago. :)  I was amazed as last year's order took almost a month to get to me. According to DHL tracking, the order arrived in Cincinnati at 2am this morning from Hong Kong, hit NYC at 7:30am, then to Norwalk, CT and finally in my grubby little hands at 12:42, which I think is a absolutely unbelievable
The order had a fairly diverse selection of Ray's products which included 100/128 pixels strings, flexible strips, rectangular pixels and an assortment of 12v dumb pixels, strips and controllers. Now to start burning-in and testing everything to make sure it all works.

Just FYI I had been talking to ray about a couple of things and placed a little order of 100 node pixels x 80 on Wednesday as well and he said he's out of stock of pixels and it would take two weeks to produce at factory then time to get to him and test and then ship he said probably 4 weeks for delivery as best guess.

What's the best way to pay Ray for RGB smart strings. Paypal or aliexpress.
RJ  said he wasn't sure RAY took PAYPAL any more.

I need some extra RGB wire only about twenty five feet. Were can you buy it.

Connectors I only need about fifteen. Were the best place to buy them?

Thanks

Mort

I just paid using paypal.  Order the wire and offer to sell pieces on here.  There are other folks who need small lengths of wire.  I bought 100ft from someone last year.  Helped him and me.

Ray definitely takes PayPal.  I used it for an order I received yesterday.  AliExpress used to take PayPal, but they no longer do.  You have to use a credit card if you go through the AliExpress payment system.  If you do that, you will likely get hit with "foreign transaction fees" from your credit card company and may need to verbally approve the foreign charge with them.  I've switched to paying Ray directly with PayPal.  It avoids the hassles and fees associated with the credit card.  You do lose the escrow protection of AliExpress by doing this, but I'm not aware of Ray ever not shipping an order or not resolving any issues.  I'm not 100% sure but you may pay some additional foreign transaction fees via PayPal depending on what source of money you use with them.  I just used money already in my account and no fees were charged.

I've been using PayPal with Ray as well because the AliExpress system doesn't want to accept bank cards or certain other credit cards.  Even with contacting bank / credit card company to allow foreign transactions.

I send ray an email telling him what I want from his ali express store and how many and he sends an invoice that I can pay through paypal and is quoted in US dollars.  I pay with credit card through paypal in USD and dont have any transaction fees.  Havent had any problems.

Just to give everyone an update.  Tomorrow will be three weeks from payment and Ray originally quoted 2 weeks.

Ray informed me of a production delay and is hoping to ship them out next week.

So at least with this order we are looking at about a four week lag time...

i placed an order with ray, payed with paypal, and received stuff recently. He made 2 mistakes, and is sending me another package with corrections. So if you helps your decision making, even with a mistake where he already had the money (paypal),  he still honored the mistake.

Just as a note, China is on vacation all next week. I think Ray is working but I do not think there will be any production next week.

That is correct, sept 30 to oct 5th is holiday for them.

Ray will be working every day.

Btw, he said he got backed up because a single user ordered 70,000 pixels of rgb. That order has now been delivered but it did create a backlog.

Cables and some square pixels are 15-26 days, other strings are 5-10 days. He split my order, half has already shipped dhl.

He apologized for the drop in his service level. My suggestion to him is to just communicate more. Does not matter the country, when the supply chain gets delays you need to over communicate.

He did tell me thank you for the nutcracker. He said some customers have mentioned it when ordering pixels.

Maybe it is my own fault that there are delays on my order , lol

Wow, I thought my order of 8000 was a decent size order, 70000 * .40 per pixel = $28,000  <fp.  Either someone is doing a massive display or its a company buying a bunch and maybe trying to come out with a product this year?

With RJs controllers at 128 max per string lets see...

547 Smart String Controllers
$1.40 per board = $765.80
$4.67 per board for SSC Parts = $2556.13

35 Active Hubs
$8.50 per board = $297.50
$45.71 per board for parts = $1599.73

35 Power Supplies lets say $70 each = $2450

Now we still have to communicate, we filled the hubs to capacity and controllers but hub will only control 1365 unique pixels so there will be duplicate addressing, but that would be 35 USB dongles or 9 Ethernet dongles and at last coop of around $95 each that's $855.

$36524 and some change not to mention all the time to solder and build the boards and program.

Lets see, I got 5 and its not me, VoltorB got 7... ;)

Someones got a little extra money to spend this year...

I have mentioned this before but I do not see the reason to order specific lengths of pixels.  It seems to me that one continuous length of whatever number of pixels you want would be better.  We may be able to bring the cost down a bit more by not having them cut them, solder on pig tails, or even sometimes solder pieces together to make the correct length.  If anything it would be better to just have him solder on the connector instead.  I don't know about you guys but I end up just cutting off the soldered on pig tail anyway.
