Title: source for power cords?
Post by: mmorlan62 on March 28, 2012,
I presume this has been asked/answered before but I couldn't find it:

What are some good sources for the power cords one uses with the LE?

One could use 16/2 zip cord for the channel outputs although I would prefer a pigtail with the molded 3-prong female socket for exterior use.

Thanks,

M

monoprice.com is the best place.  You can get different lengths to your liking.

Unless your disply items are also using 3 prong outlets, what exactly are these three prong cords going to do for you?

I have used the 2' 16/3 from monoprice and they work well and the price is good.  I also used these at the link below and I think they work better as they are rated plenty high for the LE and are smaller so I can get 8 in each hole of the CG-1500 with a little extra drilling with a step bit.

The problem is they have been out for 3 months and the normal price is too high.  Stock is expected in April.  I asked it they would do their hot deal price of $1.01 again if I purchased around 450 of them and they agreed.  We'll wait and see if it comes true or not.

If it does, I'm going to see what they will do if we send them people from DIY their way.

I save the ends from old and hacked light strings. And at the end of year sales, you can get incan strings cheep.

Have fun

I have a very small dream, but I see I can't count as that number isn't divisible by 16.

it IS devisible by 18 though...
16 (cut them off just after the male plug)
+
2 (cut them off just before the female plug)

is enough cables for 25 expresses

Careful now.

The ones I noted don't have a the normal female outlets, only the male end.  The other end gets recycled.  The cords from monoprice.com do have the normal female end and I have used them in this way.

I've also used the cheap 6' extension cords from lowes. Sometimes they go on sale...

A note for the future:
When Target goes 75% off (normally New Years day) the indoor 6,9,15 ft cords are the best deal around. all three for 1.49. I got hundreds of them.

Dollar stores will often have 8' extension cords.  2-prong, 3-tap, ...for $1 each.  I've raided stores for 50 at a time, then gone to the next store.
