Title: Cat5
Post by: mitch09 on January 29, 2011,
Found a deal at a garage sale  for this cat5e cable:  $25!!
My guess is about 800' remaining

1000FT 24AWG Cat5e 350MHz UTP Stranded, In-Wall Rated (CM), Bulk Ethernet Cable

Will it work for my Smart strings? I know it was stated that it needs to be stranded, are their any other regulations that I need to worry about. If it doesn't work, I guess I could use it to daisy chain my LEs.

Yes stranded wire is needed for SS since its more flexible than solid wire

Just made sure the wire is copper and you need to buy connectors design for stranded wire

Later RJ will tell everyone where to buy pre-made cables really cheap.

Damn....  Oh well it was a thought. Thanks RJ for that...

hmmm wait..  My BIL does this stuff for a living..  He just might be able to get some good cable for cheap....  Or at least point me in the right direction!

Thanks again RJ.  I never even looked at their product for this....  Off to make some phone calls!
