40 days, 30 facts...

As of today the Academy is 40 days away so we want to keep everyone thinking about it and gaining excitement. So for the next 30 days (until 10 days before the Academy) we'll be listing an Academy fact each day leading up to the event. Feel free to chime in with your own comments etc as we get closer and closer to the biggest and best of 2012:

5/6/12: Did you know that the facility for the 2012 Academy is over 25,000 square feet? That includes 14,800 sq ft of vendor space and 11,000 sq ft of educational space. Check out the attached floor plan to see what we're talking about.

5/7/12:

29. Did you know that the Academy will have 15 class blocks (most with 4 classes running at once)?  That's over 950 minutes of instruction (or 16+ hours) for you to enjoy and learn from.

5/8/12:

28. Did you know that there are 30 different instructors at the 2012 Academy? This includes software developers, vendors, and recognized experts from across the hobby.

27. Did you know that the Soldering Lab will be open all day on Friday and Saturday?  You can come by the lab anytime and get some assistance on your soldering skills.

26. Did you know that a dozen vendors are attending the 2012 Academy? Some of your favorites and some new faces will be there to share the newest products they have available.

25. Did you know that the 2012 Academy will have software classes for everyone including classes taught by the developers of Light Show Pro (David Johnson), Nutcracker (Sean Meighan), xLights (Matt Brown) and SuperStar (Brian Bruderer).

5/12/12:

24.  Did you know that, in addition to the developers teaching at the 2012 Academy, we will have power users for Light-O-Rama (Don Teague, Johnny Poore), Vixen (Keith Siddel), Zara Radio (Chris Backus) and for the first time, Madrix (Drew Hickman).

23. Did you know that we will be holding a "Flood Off" on Saturday evening?  David Moore of Holiday Coro is arranging this on-site comparison of different flood lights available on the market today.  This is not your traiditional class; it's a chance to see things up close and ask questions.

21.  Did you know that there is a Swap Meet area at the Academy each year?  Attendees can bring those items and sell them to others.  At the same time attendees have the opportunity to pick up new items for their own displays.

Did you know that sometimes things happen beyond our control?  David Johnson of Light Show Pro is unable to attend the Academy this year.  But have no fear- RJ and the DLA team worked to bring in another instructor (Michael Patten) who can help you understand the intricacies of the LSP platform.

17. Did you know that the Nutcracker software will be taught in two levels?  The first is a introduction level to the Nutcracker and will be taught on Friday and repeated on Sunday.  An advanced level course is being offered on Saturday as well.
