What's the longest CAT5 cable you can run between two Lynx Express controllers?

I now have a source of cheap CAT3 cable that I was hoping to use. I suppose that the distances should be comparable--if not longer--than CAT5 since CAT3's twists aren't as tight. I also figure that it should work since the DMX data throughput isn't as high as 100 megabit ethernet?

Stick with the CAT 5 when you can, it's a good deal.

Can you elaborate?

Just wondering......... If you can buy cat5 1000 feet for $45, how much do you save buying cat 3?

(that is free shipping and no tax in most states)

IMHO, the CAT 5 cable performs better all around with lower Signal to Noise Ratio's from internal and external sources foot to foot than the CAT 3. Skin Effect resistance should be less also giving you better signal levels at greater distances with the CAT 5 cable.
