GE Color changing lights options
« on: January 01, 2012, »
Hey guys,
I was able to pick up a bunch of the GE color changing bulbs today. I got the 16 ct. 12.5 ft strings from Home depot.
I did a search and could not find any topics directly related to hacking/controlling these.
What are the options available? Can they be controlled with Lynx equipment?
Thank you, Steve

You might want to check over on doityourselfchristmas.com in the "other hardware" section.  Was lots of hacking stuff on the GE Color Effects a while back.

The limited ability of them seems to limited the interest but their are people using them. I do not have hardware for them.

I think an e680/e681 will control them. Never tried it myself, but I'm about 90% sure I'm right.

Thanks for the info. I have seen the threads on the 680/681. I was hoping I could keep it LYNX. No biggie, maybe I will sell them off and just use the nodes.
I am a "buy it now, figure it out later" kind of guy.. ;D

One thing that's pretty slick is that the e68x controllers are e1.31 devices. You can program their starting ip addresses and run e68x devices along side of the lynx etherdongle. Should be pretty straight forward...
