Title: PCB screw holes mismatch CG1500??
Post by: gwindman on April 30, 2011,
Should the PCB holes align with those in the CG1500?
I can only get two at opposite corners to line up.
Also, is it recommended to use strain reliefs with the CG1500?
Thanks.

here's a link to one of the pictures in the manual showing the Express mounted in an enclosure...  uses all 4 screw holes.

Here is a video link that I followed.  This idea works well.

I think some 1/4" water line as standoffs on the four holes that line up might work as well and save a bunch of drilling.   Either was there should be four holes that match up.

I use a 3/8" fostner bit - once the bit catches the post - the post shears right off.   There is a double post which you drill out one-half at a time, but the whole thing only takes a couple of minutes.

I simply use precut nylon spacers from home depot ($0.35/pair) and some machine screws that just fit along with a nylon washer on the PCB.

Thanks everyone.  I used a drill and cleaned out the risers and adjusted the placement of the PCB.

I've used the rubber washers that go in the old style water faucets in some of mine and drilled out others.

The express fits nicely in a Orbit sprinkler timer box available at Lowes.

If you go with the cg2000 let us know how it works out please

worst case scenario, you might need to make a custom mouting bracket, to fit the 2000...   search on here for how people dealt with the "new mounting holes" on newer model CG-1500's

Drill 4 pilot holes from the board as a template through the case.  Screw 4 screws (something like a 6-32 x 5/8") through the case from the back.  Get some 3/8 hard plastic water line to use as a standoff ($.30 per foot). Cut the water line on the wife's cutting board with a sharp utility knife at about 3/16" (4 pieces).  Then use some hot glue on the backside of the case to seal and lock the screws in place.

There are batches of the CG-1500 now that have different hole patterns in them, which I believe no longer match up as easily as the original ones did to the Lynx Express boards.

That is correct..  The "new" CG-1500's are that way.  I recv'd a batch of 'em.  Had to modify the case to get everything mounted correctly.

I got a case of the new style as well and found a really quick fix. I had some thin plexiglass laying around (stuff you can get at Home Depot), and just cut a rectangle to fit over the area where the express would be mounted. Drilled it to match the standoffs at the outside edges, screwed it in, then just pre-drilled holes for the express and used sheet metal screws to attach it to the plexi. This actually allowed me to mount the express higher up in the case that the originals and gave me some extra working room for the cords. I use the little rubber faucet washers for standoffs too; it keeps board up off the plexi, but it really doesn't matter since it's non-conductive.
