I have been getting asked a lot of questions lately about how I used the LYNX equipment on my LOR network. I am not so good at explaining things via typing, so I put together a quick little 5 minute video to hopefully explain the hardware setup. I hope this can help some people.
You can download the video right from my site:

Wow!...I didn't realize how big that file was. I posted a smaller size video, which will download a little quicker for everyone.

Thanks for the video. That's how I always envisioned everything going together in my head, but it was great to see it in the video.

Nicely done!
Really help explain how to do it, thanks!

Very Nice video! Great job!
But Lynx is the large cat, sounds like "Links" not "linex". click here

pondude, it may seem trivial to you because you don't know the meaning behind the name.
I liked your video as well and am sure it will help out a great deal of people. :)

Very good video.
I am trying to figure out what I really want to do this year. It would be a no-brainer if LOR S/W could use the Lynx Dongle.
LOR Controllers can see DMX without doing any additional programming, so it cannot be disabled. The IDMX1000 is pricey and is one of the issues I have making a decision.
I need to double my channels, from7 to 14 Controllers this year, and cannot justify the cost of additional controllers and LED light strings.
I could sell all my LOR equipment and with the money buy the 14 Lynx controllers.
BUT, then comes the other factor. I really like the LOR sequence editor, I have originally used Animated Director by AL, then went to LOR, have enjoyed using the LOR editor and know many tricks in using this software. We have had several classes locally by some very experienced users and learned a lot how to use it.
I guess this old dog is having some trouble learning new tricks but still trying to compare software packages.

well if you buy the idmx1000 it pricy but it balances out if you use lynx controllers on dmx thru the idmx1000 or buy 7 lor controller for 175.00 each when they have a summer sale

I'm in the same situation. I'm going to purchase an iDMX unit and maybe add some Lynx units into the mix this year and see where it goes. I looked at the other software options and although they will will work without question, I'm in no hurry to convert sequences with 500 channels.
The good news is the used market for LOR controllers is the best I have ever seen.

Don't forget that you can convert many LOR sequences to Vixen using the LO2VIX converter. I have downloaded lots of LOR sequences and converted them to Vixen. Even my own original LOR sequences that really weren't worth converting. So before you give up try converting a LOR sequence. I suspect that you could create a new sequence in LOR and convert it. I own both LOR and Lynx hardware. I have heard that some newer LOR stuff won't convert, but personally I have never had that problem.

Just and FYI, LOR released the new version of the iDMX firmware today, publicly, which supports all 512 channels.

how does the idmx updated firmware work it says it still only got 16 units not 32 why i updated s2 too
