Title: Scavenging
Post by: rimist on February 02, 2012,
I've started to scavenge parts out of broken toys to fix other toys, or make other things. Most of the toys have leds. It's there any point saving the pcb that has connection points for wires, a single capacitor, and a single black blob on the pcb?

If you plan on joing any of the coops, I'd say no. But if you plan on ordering any parts directly them maybe. but most if the parts you'll be able to salvage are cheep. the items you'll need are more expensive and chances are you wont find the. just my thought.

The scavenging isn't for building pcb from DLA. I either order those from mouser or co-op them. I use scavenged parts to fix broken toys or scavenged electronics

depends if the pcb is useful, like a seperate power supply pcb, or if it held a special button.

most likely, a pcb from an old beta max vcr might not be useful.

YMMV
