I am trying to program my SSC v4 PICs and I get the following error
Program operation of configuration memory failed
Address 0xF80006 read 0x87 expected 0x2
I have the correct PIC entered. I am using a PICKIT 3
I am using v4 firmware.
All 10 of these SSC give me the same error.
I have rebooted the laptop
I don't have a problem programming my v1 or v2 SSC.
Ideas?

i have the same issue...memory failing. but i can program the PIC just fine and get the correct checksum. however when i program the start channel, nothing happens. i go back into the pickit to read the program and I get C4A3 checksum. bad PIC?

The check sum changes, when you change the start address. you may need to reset the PicIt 3. I do not have a V4, but all earlier. I know I get the memory fail if I start the PicIt software before I plug in the PicIt 3 into the computer.

I dragged out my PICKIT 2 and everything programmed perfectly.
Ran the utility, set the start channel and all is good.
I have no idea why the PICKIT 3 would not work.
Back out to the garage.

I had the same issue, but reset the pickit3 and got them all done. Don't know what it was.

This was after programming 8 Ssc's and I successfully programmed one after. Just the one is giving me problems.
-
Could the PIC be bad if it takes the program but fails to accept the start channel program?
-
Something may have corrupted the Pickit-3 internal software. I would bring up MP-Lab and letit reload the Pickit's firmware and see what happens.

This is to weird, I to had the same memory failure. Unloaded MPLAB and reinstalled it. But the PICKIT3 utility didn't uninstall. Same memory failure Hummm! Opened up the utility from MS programs/ microchip/ PICKIT3 still no go. Messed around with opening the utility with the programmer not connected wouldn't let me select a chip. Messed around some more then it started working for no reason, hasn't missed a beat. Humm OH! tried programming another chip PIC32FJxxxxxxx before I reinstalled MPLAB with no problems.

I programmed 10 out of 16 SSC v4 successfully with a pickit2. I haven't figured out what is wrong with the other 6 yet. I will try all of the above suggestions.

on 3 chips i received the following error message when checking the memory..."program memory is not blank starting at address 0x000000."

I programmed 5 a few weeks back and had no issue with a picki3, starting a build of another 10, hope you fellows have not jinxed it!
I do always plug it in first, and I always use the same USB port each time before I bring up the stand alone programming software.
