I called them a week ago and ordered 10 cases by phone.  Free shipping and got them a few days later on Friday of last week.

I think the online site is closed, if I remember correctly they were taking orders until Thanksgiving by calling the toll free number, there's another thread here about them.

Yeah, unfortunately, they're shutting down their consumer store.  The parent company will continue to take orders, though, although the $250 minimum order puts it out of range of most hobbyists except in group buys.

So is there an alternate source for cases. I will try calling them to see if I can get one.

I did a search in google for 706098 enclosure and found this can some help up and determine if this is the same thing or if it will work. Also what was the price of the one in the manual. Sorry forgot the link.

http://www.arrisistore.com/product.php?pid=706098

In Searching that site they too have a $250 minimum.

Arris is the parent company so that is the correct case and it is the min order amount that is killing it for many.  I was fortunant enough to get an order in for 12 of them before they closed and have them now.  The problem is that they are a fairly large case so doing a coop buy of them from the parent company to get passed the min order amount may prove to be a problem with storing a large number of them prior to shipping and little expensive in shipping them out to the coop members.  I would think that UPS would be much less expensive than USPS as they are light but large and the large fixed rate USPS packages are not cheap to send.

There is one sitting on ebay at the moment:
http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/AFL-Demarcation-Enclosure-Cable-Box-CG1500-w-NO-Logo-/390216434462
(scratch that)

There doesn't appear to be any retail sources for these boxes. I think we were getting the Blue Ridge cases because they were closeouts...an overrun of  cases originally created for Blue Ridge cable that the manufacturer AFL Telecom wrote off. The ones I just got were manufactured in 2008.

There are many different cases that would work, but the AFL CG 1500 is a perfect fit for the LE with no modification. I think the only way we will see these available again at a reasonable price is through a coop where someone has procured a bulk purchase quote from AFL or one of their wholesalers.

Arris - http://www.arrisistore.com/product.php?pid=706098

The CG-1500 enclosures are here, but you have to pay retail price $20 each. Maybe you can call and get a discount if purchasing 5-10

This has been looked at in the past.   The problem is that any savings in per case cost is quickly wiped out by the double shipping....   from the source, to the coop manager and then from the manager to the end user..     The source can often get a pretty good deal on the shipping.....   the coop manager is limited to the going shipping prices.

The best option is to find one or two other fanatics  in your local area and go together on a single purchase (if you are looking for just one or two cases).   The large cases (like the CG1500)  are 6 to a carton.   The best deal on shipping  is to work with multiples of 6.

I ordered from there I new I was going to need a few for next year so I check to check how much shipping was and It was the same price for shipping 3 as for 1 so I bought 3. I also sent a private message to the guy that was selling the one that was sold on eBay and he did have one more I got him to sell me that one for $25 shipped. What I would think would be the best think for a coop would be to see if the supplier would allow local pick-up and have the coop manager close that could make the pick-up and add an additional fee say .50 - $1 per case. that is if he could get a good enough discount on a bulk order.

They were part of a large buy for Blue Ridge that didn't happen. Popular here because it was the case style needed for the Express and the logo was so subtle people didn't mind the logo and they got em at discount from yourbroadbandstore.com

Cable-Amplifiers.com wants $20 for their CG-1500 enclosures...     I'd be quite happy if someone could provide a link to a cheaper supplier.

YBBS is closing at the first of the year... however, as long as you order by the case OVER THE PHONE, they will let you buy enclosures now.  I havent priced the cg1500, but i do know i was going to make an 83 dollar purchase from them and they were giving free shipping, and didnt say i had to order more...

ANother link that i have found is www.gomultilink.com

again you have to call... however, the minimum order is by the case.  I spoke to JAN her area is in illinois.
there is shipping for these and a 15 dollar handling fee per case... but the most expensive case that i saw was 9 dollars..

but if you add the 15 per case in handling, then shipping... well still prolly around 12-13 an enclosure, but not too bad!

YourBroadband still doing orders over the phone, 10 pc per item minimum. I ordered a case of each: CG-1500 (10pc), CG-2000(10pc - for Ren24SS), TA-200 (45pc). Free Shipping on orders over $75

Make sure to tell them you are from one of the Crhistmas websites to get discounted prices.

CG-1500 & CG-2000 = about $8 with a minimum of 10pc per item per order.

TA-200 = $2.49  with a minimum of 10pc per item per order

Just ordered 10 of the CG-2000 with no issue.  They indicated they would probably only be taking orders for another week.

I just talked to the folks at the broad band store.  They have gone to a minimum order of 20 enclosures regardless of type.  I tried to talk them into 10 CG-1500s but they wouldn't go for it.  They said that tomorrow 10/22/2010 is the last day for them to be in business.  They said they have 1100 CG-1500s and offered to sell them to me but I just can't come up with enough to buy them.  If anyone wants 20 or more you better jump on them quick!

Did you guys see my thread regarding DF Countryman (http://diylightanimation.com/index.php?topic=4083.0)? They'll sell CG-1500's for $10 each with no minimum. I didn't ask about larger quantities. Might be worth a phone call.

It's the best case I have seen that fits the LE very well.  In fact RJ designed the board to mount to it perfectly.

The boards mounting holes were set up to use this case.  There is no solid rule that says that every LE must be installed in its own case.  I do believe that someone had more than 2 in a large case but he needed a large number of channels in a small area.  Unless that is also your plan you may find that the cost of extension cords can easily exceed the cost of the second case if your display is spread out ad all your controllers are in one place.

For small orders at least (even individual cases)  DF Countryman seems to be the place to go

http://www.dfcco.com/p-1732-afl-telecommunications-cg-1500.aspx

they stock the CG-1500, and do not have a minimum order.  $10.00

Talked to them today, and while they currently just sold out - they will be getting more and continue to stock this case.
