Sounds like the hardware side wouldn't be hard for this crowd.

Here's a link to the hardware portion of the project ...

It's still a little too hacky for my liking, but surely someone will figure out how to build this in a more elegant form.

I love to watch, but i don't think i want to be responsible for an unattended laser in my yard...

Most people have a sense of being careful around electricy - not so much with lasers...

I agree and I don't think that RJ would want to take on that responsibility either.  That's all this site needs is someone suing it becasue their child was injured by a laser from a kit sold from here.  That would be the end of DIY.

Ill be using a 4 laser projector for christmas, but its store bought. Im thinking of adding a blanker with a motion sensor so if someone walkes in front of it the blanker goes down and shuts the light off, i just need to make the circuitry.

Although, ive got a chauvet laser unit that i received off ebay for almost nothing, the laser was out and i bought a new one for it. I might be able to get it to work right as a show of how to do one.

There is also an apparent rise in the amount of reports of pilots being blinded by lasers whether they be laser pointers or whatever.  I would think based on the negative publicity alone, if you had a laser on your front lawn it wouldn't be long before someone of authority would "swing by" and pay you a visit.  It's a real shame too, because you can do alot of awesome stuff with lasers, not just vector graphics, you could get into holography etc..
