Now I am just wondering if Tom is going to man up and congrat you since he rode you so hard on this whole project  :o

Of course I still have not seen him do any animation yet.

CONGRATS!  Never thought about lining an entire street with arches before...    ;D  That was a lot of work.  Enjoy your blinky.

The new job is sucking up a great deal of my time so I haven't been on much lately so Congradulations Chris, they look good.  That makes me wonder if I might use a similar design but use smart strips and the new grouping function of the controller.  As for the animation, I was all set to go and was waiting for my buddyto stop b (as promised) and help me get the lights on the roof but he never showed and I ran out of time. >:D

last year i was thinking of using the flex strips, but it felt like a waste of all those channels...   (216 channels per arch vs 24 channels)

and grouping on flex strips just felt like i was stealing some of the power of the strips.

Well, for this coming year it's all about the time.  I really don't think that I would have the time to undertake the project that you did to build the smart dumb string units you built to create those arches and I'm not sure that I would save enough money to delay other projects that need to get done.  On the next order I will purchase one flex strip along with the nodes and see how it works.  My display is sort of on the bright side and at least for the next few years, much f my display will remain static so the arches need to look good in a fairly bright environment, at least for now.

I have a video of my flex strip arches somewhere in the porch. 360degree view all around and some little extras. After the first one, it takes 10 minutes to build per arch (not counting SSC). And you can get a few more effects out of them than the single one. Whenever you have a couple of hours in front of you, you should give it a try.
