Kurt; here is another that might fall in your sphere
Another one from DIYC.

Sean
I created a new profile and I still encounter the same error.
Target model is complete.
In Gallery,
I click the check mark to Use Effect,
I enter a unique , no spaces name, for Effect Name,
I click Copy Checked Effect(s) button,
It works fine as long as you select an effect to copy from the first 10 effects to appear under (sort by; User,Effect)
If I hit "NEXT" button for more effects or "Back" button, or change the number of effects displayed per page,
I get the following;
"Sorry, didn't copy BAR because you did not give it a new name
Effects Copied"
No effects get copied
Clues?

Sean,
The issue here is that Angus (the user that Aurbo99 was copying bar effects from) has multiple effects with the same name. If you try to copy one of the effects over that is NOT the last duplicate, it will give the no name error.
This raises a few issues. First: We should be doing error checking on effects (when created) to make sure that a duplicate name is not being used. Second: How do we get rid of these extraneous effects that are duplicates?
The work-around (that I have proven to work locally) is to select the last named duplicate (the right/bottom most)

Were you able to copy the effects you needed/wanted?

Kurt,
Now that the gallery can be searched by username I have noticed something that may be contributing to the problem of not being able to copy effects.
I have been using the cleanup function to weed out effects I do not want to keep. I currently have about 50 effects saved in my library. But if I filter the gallery with my username there are 75 or so effects listed, I recognise many as ones I have previously cleaned up.
Effects that are currently in my library will allow a copy to be made (back into my library) from the gallery , but effects that have been deleted from my library will not copy.

prof,
Thanks. I will look at the clean-up routine and see if it is missing a delete query somewhere. You may have just found the cause.

Kurt
so this thread reminds you to make sure your target names are not already in your gallery.
Another user on DIYC was having problem on copying effects. I made a 2 minute tutorial for that user, use it if you are having problems copying ...
