I don't know anything about the LOR CCF but the rainbow flood, that's like comparing a road flare to a bon fire.
If at first you don't succeed,
your not cut out for sky diving

The extreme is his new version- "56 3 chipped Superflux LEDs with extremely powerful constant current drivers to deliver the most powerful and brightest do-it-yourself floodlight on the market"

This is from his website.

I'm with you Keith, I would love to see that comparison. Also adding the v-flood to the list.
We saw a comparison (at ICE) of Rainbow Floods (standard), constant current vfloods (much brighter), and some of the Chinese 3 watt LED RGB floods, which by far and away were brighter than anything we had seen, lighting up trees across a city street! They ran $180 each plus shipping. They were fully assembled, DMX addressable, and IP65 rated. I think the owner said because he ordered 3 he got free shipping.

I almost ordered the rainbow flood extremes because I have a project that requires some powerful rgb led floods early this year. I am wanting to see a difference between the aether II and these as well.

Was that a typo? 3 watts is that bright?

The last coop for the aether II started after I went to bed so I missed out. I would still like to see the comparison in case I somehow miss it again and need a backup plan. My house has dark brick so I need something really bright. Since the rainbow extreme has many leds I think the possibility of comparable brightness is possible and who knows about the LOR flood since it still hasn't been relesed yet.

I like the idea of a shoot-out.  Can that be added to the list for the Academy? (...maybe an evening event)
I'd like to see the options up close and personal, and 2 months before the chicago event gives me more time to order/build based on that info.

Are the other shoot-outs that might be fun to see?

Each individual R, G, and B LED was 3 watts (as opposed to the 1 watt RGB LEDs that are only 3 watts when white). There were a bank of 12 of each color, for a total of 36 watts, 108 watts if all were lit.. It was extremely bright, and blew the others we had to compare to out of the water.

how are they planning to measure?

since it's specifically a "flood" shootout, do they plan on measuring the field of throw as well?
