SS Coop
« on: January 25, 2011, »
Since I've joined, about three weeks ago, I have not seen any info on SS coops.  Have I missed it?  If not  any idea when it will be? and how many do you usually have in a given year?

Thanks for the info, Ralph

The controller and hub coop has already started here (thanks again Bill!!)

However, there hasn't been a coop for the actual strings yet.  The hub and controller coop ends on the 31st, so hurry up and join if you want.  ;D

Hey ponddude.  Thanks I did get in on the ss controllers and the Hub even got my first dongle.  I was hoping I did not miss the one for the strings. That's good news!   Do you know if there is more than one per year?  I pay cash on this hobby, otherwise I might be in the poor house with no place to hang my awesome Light!!  So I am hoping there will be two between now and Christmas.

No one can say for sure. It depends on a lot of things, like demand, and willing Coop managers among other things.    I'd like to believe there will be more, but It's hard to say.

Funny thing happened a few nights ago.  I visited the site and the News line said "Smart String coop open."  I got excited but I couldn't find any indications that one had indeed opened.  The next day it said "Smart String controller coop open."

How about ordering a dongle pcb or more from the Dongle pcb Coop that closes soon, Jan 30th?

I got the Dongle in the current coop.  Is that the correct one?  It looked like the one I needed!  Will need to get if flashed.  Thanks for looking out for me!!

Is the current coop for the case the correct one?

Yes, that one will work and is currently the only one available.  Remember that coop is for the board only.  You will still need to order the parts from Mouser.  Yes, you will need to get the processor flashed or purchase a Picket3 and do it yourself.  If you intend to get serious about this hobby, owning a programmer is pretty much a necessity and is not a big investment.

The case being offered in the current Dongle Case Coop is the correct case for the current version of the Dongle PCB being offered in the Dongle PCB Coop.

A matched set as it were.  :)

Cool.  Thanks for the help.  I thought that would be the case but wanted to check.  Is the programmer, Picket3, available at mouser as well? Is it ready to go off the shelf?  I see this as becoming more that a hobby, but a way of life!!
