Arches
« on: August 06, 2010, »
My first arches, I used the sleeve method, thought I would share my excitement with yall. What do ya think, there is some gap between sleeves but I have found if you leave 1 or 2 lights hang off the end you can minimize the gap as you can see my gap is noticeable thats because I didn't have them up tight to each other like they will be when done testing. Heres some pic's. This is were I bought the minis in case someone needs some The price was $27.00 for 2400 bulbs I messed up and order 3 which was 7200 bulbs oops only need 3200 bulbs. You are not allowed to view links. Looks awesome.  Is it 8 channels per arch?  This is what Im looking at doing.  Do you have particulars like length of pvc, cut length of poly etc. ?

They look great.  I can't tell that there is any gap when you see them on the arch.

Very nice job.

Look great! I did make a test arch with some old multi color lights I had. I used a 10' Sch 40 PVC, and marked 6" off each end, then I marked every 13.5". That gave me 8 sections, I just wraped the lights around it after that.

I am working on getting a tutorial together to post on my website.

Hi DLAers , To answer some ?'s that yall asked.
There are 8 channels and i am going to try and put the extension cords under the poly pipe if this does not work I'll zip tie to the back of the arch to hide them
Sleeve Length - 13" long the poly is 1" in DIA.

10' grey electrical 1/2 " conduit ( cut off the couplin end )

I used rebar to slide pipe over to secure to the ground, The distance between each Rebar was 5' this gave me somewhere around a 4.5' arch the farther you space out the rebar the shorter the arch gets.

Thanks for looking guys hope this helps

Lineman,

I think this is a great flexible solution. How do you disguise/hide the power extension cords from each section to the controller? Do you just leave them exposed?

Lineman,

Thank You! I've been trying to figure out how I was going to store 10 foot sections of pvc wrapped in lights. You came up with an absolutely brilliant idea. 13 inch sections are manageable and much easier to store before and after Christmas.

Again, Thank You for sharing your idea.
