Next question is, for every 3 -100 light strings is 1 amp? And the le's are best suited for 15 - 20 amps. With that in mind, what is the max for a single leg on the Le?

From the Express Manual:
40 amps Total for the Express with approved heat sink attached
4 amps per channel maximum with approved heat sink attached

Hope that helps.

My mini trees use 1 string of 100 lights per color.  I think they look good.  I don't think you need 3 strings.  Maybe you should do a test tree with 100 and a test tree with 300 and see what you think before worrying about how much amperage you have available.  Just my 2 cents.  :)

My midi/mega tree is 8' tall. I used 8 each 50 count C6 LEDs in RGW and I think it looked good. The strings are 17' long and I doubled them up. All 24 channels only drew a little over .5 Amps.

Just curious - when you use mini's on a mega tree can you get them close enough so that you can mix colors?  In other words the Red and Green close enough to create a yellow effect?  I'm thinking not but I'm curious.

It is my first year and even though I'm getting the smart string controllers it looks like it will be hard to use smart strings for my mega tree this year so I'm curious what effects you can get using mini's.  I'm guessing no color combining but I figured I would ask.

Cubbieco,

You wont be able to do color mixing with regular minis no matter how close you get them.

I just put together a 300 count white led and a 300 count multi incan, and the incan blows the multi away.

The only way to create other colors is to blend the colors from the lights.  You would need to place the lights inside of a translucent sphere that would diffuse and blend the light to create the colors, just like the nodes do.
