My father was in the US Army Air Force in WWII. He was in the 509th composite group while they were training in Utah. The 509th had the only specially fitted B-29's. He was the bomb site mechanic on a B-29 called Bock's Car. He didn't leave with the plane when it left for the Pacific. Shortly after, Bock's Car dropped the 2nd atomic bomb.

I was in the United States Navy from 1998-2002, USS Denver LPD-9.  Aft Engine room Supervisor.

My Uncle was in the Navy onboard a ship during Vietnam.  He was hit with an agent orange test that prematurely ended his life at 45.

My grandfather on my mom's side cleared mines with a bayonet in WW2.  Lost partial hearing from a grenade.  Passed away at 77.

My grandfather on my dad's side was a communications guy in WW2.  He had a nice safe job.  He also passed away in his mid 70's.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for those that have served honorably in our armed forces.  Thank you to those that have...

My dad was in the Air Force four years, and the Navy sixteen years. He was a chief petty officer when he retired.

My grandfather was in the Army Air Core during WWII, he was a mechanic. I have an article about him explaining that he was the only person small enough to fit in the engine while it was still on the plane. Apparently if he did the repairs it took hours instead of days.

My sister was in the Army for twelve years.

My brother in law was also in the Army.

My other brother in law is still in the Air Force, he might retire at twenty years, or he might keep going.
