Mixed node types
« on: April 11, 2012, »
If I wanted to have a flexible strip cut to about 11ft and hang 3 Plastic rectangle nodes off the end other than possibly needing power interjected for the Plastic rectangles could this work? Has anyabody tested a similar configuration?

Other than possibly exceeding the node count, I don't see why it wouldn't.  If evything is also 12V, you probably don't need power injection either.
If at first you don't succeed,
your not cut out for sky diving

Tested your configuration and it works. I tested it with TM1809 rectangles. I do not have any TM1804's. With my rectangles the colors were different than strips.

dpitts,

Thanks, I do not have a flexible strip yet.

Was it just different shades of the same color or was it like the strip was green and tne modules were blue?

The rectangles will be a few feet away from the end of the strip so I guess I can control the color difference through the sequence.

Each smart device has RGB in different orders, hence the need to tell the SSC which type your using.

I forgot about that point.

I guess I will need to go a different direction then. I wanted to use one SSC to drive both because otherwise the sets of 3 rectangles would be about 14 to 15 feet between each set. It probably would work because my coro stars were 8 ft apart in groups of 10 stars with 3 modules per star. I even had separated some of the stars in one group with an extension cable that was at least 10 feet long.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Are you using LSP. If so you can create one controller for strips and another for rectangles and change the order of the RGB for each controller. Controller channel numbers do not have to be continuous in LSP.

Yes I am now using LSP.

I am going to order a flexible strip to experiment with before I go forward.

The device will still operate with an incorrect color order.  A channel is a channel.

I tested the multiple controller idea before I posted. It does work. A channel is a channel but do not forget the order in which the channels are sent matters. So if RGB channels are sent 2,1,3 instead of 1,2,3 you will get a different color.

I think that is why David has the channel ordering feature.

I meant as far as other software...     in vixen, channel 1,2,3  work just as well if channel 1 is white, blue, green, or purple.
