I have a few eight function decorative strands.. stars, snowflakes, etc. If I set them to steady burn, can i safely connect them to my express?

The electronics might not like being dimmed, and may cause erratic operation. You can always give them a try.

The AC waveform when the LE is 100% is fine.

When you dim it, it changes shape and lowers the voltage. It will almost assuredly damage any electronic device you connect. My Xenon strobes are a good example.

Do they look like this?  These 3 are from incandescent Star sets from Walmart.  I stripped the wire back and found it has a common out and 3 control lines using my multi-meter.  I cut them out and connected a plug to the set.  One side to the common and the other side to the 3 control lines.  This is from memory just over a year ago.  Use a meter and find the 120vac going to the sections.  I used them in my 2010 show and they are already  installed on my 2011 show.  (Lights on soon I hope.  More rain today!)

Is there a way to set up vixen to lock one channel to full brightness ?

Right click on the channel you want and select "All events to full intensity"

Of course thats assuming you didn't lower the max intensity :)

I think there is a strobes curve that you can load into the express which will make the channel off when 0 and 100% when any other dmx value is sent.
