Stupid question
« on: November 24, 2011, »
Ok..  I've gotten myself into this hobby pretty deep, and have found myself in the need for a PIC programmer.  I was looking at the Pickit3, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that it wasn't compatible with the PIC24F MC.

Can someone set me straight??  What would I need to program/ re-program a PIC either on or off of a PCB??

I'm hoping to go NUTS this year!

Greetings,,,

Pickit3 will program anything we've currently got going.  You may be thinking of the pickit 2.  You might try here.  One of several places to purchase:

For a limited time save 20% on all of Microchip’s development tools when you order on-line at Microchip Direct using code: ESCB2011

This is how i bought my pickit 3. I used a breadboard to program my USB dongle pic. The express has a direct connection
