Lights from a Different Perspective
« on: December 27, 2013, »
Someone in my area mounted a Go Pro 3 on a Quad remote helicopter and made this video. It is very cool. Gave me a view of my house that I never thought I would see.

That's a pretty unique view of a light show.  I'm sure some people are adding a couple things to their Santa Wish List after that video.  BTW...nice job on the lights too!

It almost looks like it is an animated video vs real footage. What a great perspective.

I don't know the guy who took the video, once again it was on the news. I sent him an email telling him how much I liked it and he was very thankful and gracious. He said that I could have a copy of the raw video of my house. After he found out which house was mine he said that it took he and his son the longest to shoot my house. I can't wait to see what else he has. Seemed like an awesome guy.

That was awesome. Thanks for sharing. That house just after yours is on the first time is a bit densely decorated. It's funny how that always makes we wonder about their electrical setup.

Does the guy doing the video have a website or anything? I'd like to see some more or read about him.

Thanks for sharing. That was off the hook and what a great idea. Looks like he's a wiz at video production too. WOW

Thanks again. Great job on your setup as well!

So it wasn't someone you knew that shot your house?  I guess in the world we live in today there is a camera at every street corner...now I will remember to look up to see if there are any drones flying around with a go pro on it :)

You can do the same thing with an AR drone or a phantom quad. I have the AR drone with some mods. I like it because you can fly it with a tablet or smart phone. The phantom quad is almost double in price and you have to add a go pro $$$$$. Both need some mods to reduce the jello effects. Both are fun to fly but you have to be careful with privacy issues

The house you are referring to is a static display. He owns an electrical company and has his crew put his lights up. It is not far from my house and is really quite impressive! It seams overwhelming, but to see it in person is different.

I do not know about the guy who shot the video, but I will find out. He is traveling until after the new year now, but said he would get a hold of me when he gets back. I will let you know if he has some sort of web site.
