It depends on what you are using the cat5 for.  It's just cable, after all.  If you are using it for ethernet, then a switch (or hub) will work as a booster.  If you are using it for RS485 data, then a powered splitter.  If it is RGB PWM power, I have seen some amplifiers on eBay that can regenerate those signals.  If it is for balanced mic-level audio, then you need a preamp and splitter.

What exactly are you trying to boost?
If at first you don't succeed,

if your using it for lynx dmx then a dmx splitter will accomplish that i just ran a show on cat 5 that one run was 600 ft to splitter and an additional 300 ft to a controller show worked flawlessly doing it the way

Well i was contemplating running the show from the basement next year. There was a lil mis hap in the spare bedroom with kids wrestlin around and someone "might have" tripped over the cat5 from the dongle... lol.    So i would need about 75 foot of cat5 (run properly) to get to the express or whatever is first.

i have very few runs under 75 ft like i said i was running 600 ft between le's no issue on plain old cat 5
not sure you need anything just run the cable and keep it away from a/c power cables and you should have no issues what so ever

If you go to a Lynx Express first, it has a DMX "booster" output. You have an Input, then an Output, then a Boosted (regenerated) output closest to the edge of the circuit board.

The dongles use the same '485 chip on the output circuit as the express uses on the dmx2 (regenerated) output... The advantage of the regenerated output on the express is primarily as a splitter. The signal really doesn't need regeneration until after several hundred feet or after being daisy chained through a dozen or so devices.
