Can LED Mini light strings be shortened?

Would it work if you replaced the LED's you remove with a resistor of equal value?

]Yes but need more information on what your string lengths and colors will be.

Thanks

Your string of 60 lights are actually 2 strings of 30 each. Take 5 lights off of each end and you will have to add  resistor in the string to compensate for the 5 removed lights on each string.

LED voltage = 3.2V Approx.
LED current = 20ms RMS for AC.

Find the total voltage or 5 LED's
 5 * 3.2 = 16 Volts

Resistor needed Calculation:

R = E/I
R = 16/.02 = 800 Ohms closest standard value is 820 Ohms

Wattage of resistor

P= E * I
P= 16V * .02
P= .32 watts recommend a 1/2 watt or higher wattage.

So a 820 ohm 1/2watt resistor should work, you could also try a 910 or 1000 ohm but keep the resistor wattage at 1/2 watt

Now this is a calculated valued but it might not be an exact one you need. The higher value should be tried first.

If you are not comfortable cutting and soldering wires with 120VAC power then try locating someone to help you.
If you need more help let me know.

ADDED
Do one section of lights at a time and check that the intensity is the same as the other section of LED's.
