Hi RJ,
Nice Video.
But Hey you are suppose to be working on getting the e-dongle ready for us and not playing with demo software ;D ::)
Cheers

I got to test it don't I ? ;D

Lookin' good. >.d9

Is it safe to assume that this could be used with Vixen and LSP as well to utilize Ethernet instead of USB?
-
Yes,
I have tested it successfully on both already.

Can you say what you did to get it working, or is it experimental software at this point?
Of course you had to test it !! ;D ;D ;D

Vixen - setup the plugin
LSP - Setup the plugin
Madrix - setup the output
It just works with them all you do not need any special software. Got to love standard protocols.

This is very cool. What version of the software would I need to purchase if I were running 375 nodes? It looks like they limit the number of DMX channels on the basic software.

375 Nodes is into the 3 Universe range, so you'd need the Basic key.
Looks like just under $1500.00 (US) (up to 16 universes) If you think of it as $100 per Universe, it doesn't hurt so much.
The Starter set, at just 1 Universe, is $490 per Universe
The Ultimate version, though it costs $3000.00 (US) works out to under $15 per Universe. Now that is cheap!
-
It's only "cheap" if you need that many universes and have 3 grand lying around and can spend it just to make lights blink.
-
RJ, any idea on a rough cost for the EtherDongle? You mention standards, so I assume this is using E1.31 as the standard. Are you automagically combining 4 DMX universes back into 1 Pixlenet Universe? When is the EtherDongle going to be available? Will there be firmware to do E1.31 to DMX and/or HyperDMX? I have some plain RGB lights inside my upstairs windows. This year, I hijacked a CAT5 run for DMX, but if I had something cheap, I could keep the ethernet and just run DMX over Ethernet.

thanks, scott

doh, never mind...just realised the thread heading says 'ether-dongle' <fp.
-
I made a new thread about what the EtherDongle does in the smart stings section.
