Title: Pointed in the right direction?
Post by: J4A4E on March 08, 2010,
I have my dongle built and it was recognized as a USB serial converter by the computer.

2 of my 4 Expresses are built. They have been tested to the point of getting the zero cross over led and the done led lit.

My next hurdle will be hooking the dongle and the express together.

I just want to make sure that I am headed in the right direction. I should program the expresses for their starting address. Using a straight thru cat 5 cable I should now be able to follow Bill Bueler’s video to set up a test in vixen to make sure I am communicating with the express.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

John

Hi John,

The LEs come program for start address 1

You can leave it there or program it with the on board buttons (very easy and quick) or the Lynx Config program (also easy)

Bill's video is more for Freestyle, MR-16, SSR4-DMX controllers

Of course you can just connect the dongle to the LE and play with Vixen to change the lights (on/off/dimming) without setting any start address by using channels 1-16 in Vixen.

btw: Link the Lynx Express Config program is in the wiki
