i am getting ready to add the 3 pin connectors to my flex strips and my strings.
Is there any standard to +/-/data to these pins?
i was thinking if we had a standard then the SSC's could be shared if they needed to.

There might be a standard, I actually believe remembering reading something about it some time ago, but I cannot remember where at the moment. Personally I went with what made the most sense to me at the time of cabling. blue with blue (data), yellow/green with green (-) and brown with red (+).

The manufacturers don't seem to follow any type of color coding standard, and have changed them at least once from what I recall. I just did all my SSCs to the way my first flex strips where, so if I get any new stuff, I will be sure to look at the color they are, and make them match what I already had.

i planed on ignoring color of the flex strips since that might change with future batches, i was thinking of
pin1 +
pin2 -
pin3 Data
i think with my current 3 pin connectors that would be
+ Pin1 RED
- pin2 BLUE
Data pin3 YELLOW with a GREEN stripe

If you think this is confusing wait until you get to dumb strings. I have strings, extension wire, and 4 pin connectors all with different color combos. Make sure you write down what you use so that you will be consist at least with your stuff.

Seeing that you are almost done with all of them, there is one trick that I read on this board once, and that I consider brilliant. I will keep advertising it as often as possible, until someone stops me :P I don't know who to give the credits to, if you do, please let me know, as this really is a time saver and makes things so much easier:
When you are enclosing the SSC in the PVC, rather than getting the cable on each side, just drill a (bigger) hole in one of the cap, and get both cable to go through it. That's it. Simple but brilliant. Once you try it once, if you are like me, you won't go back...

the earliest example I can remember seeing of the 2 holes on one end was from TheBanker
for me, I use...
OLD connectors (Red, Green, Blue)
+ red
- Green
data blue
NEW connectors (Blue, Yellow, Brown)
+ yellow
- blue
data brown
keeping the pins the same on the 3 pin connectors is important to me, as my smart arches alone use 80 pairs of 3 pin connectors.

This is the cheat sheet I keep above my soldering station.
It won't matter what color wire.
The end of an SSC board at the top
The end of the standard 3-wire connect that you are soldering to the SSC
Power is +
Ground is -
