One Down many to go..
« on: July 30, 2009, »
I have to say after finishing my first board Thanks to RJ and everyone on here. You guys are awesome and I mean it. I have never done any major electronic work maybe some basic soldering on the ends of few wire tips but I stepped up to the plate and put this board together and it fired right up. Took about 3 hours and a few breaks in between but I got my first LE DONE.

RJ thanks for everything and showing me a better way to celebrate blinky flashy month. Everyone else on the board or who has run a co-op I applaud you and will try to be there is you should ever need any help with something.

To anyone scared about putting together their own product. Direct them to me and I will be glad to help.

My contribution to the community is I did take some more photos of the process of building. More close ups and detail. If you would like I will post them to the WIKI to help anyone else out in the places I got stuck on the WIKI trying to figure things out and zooming in on the pictures to try and get a better view.

Let me know if I am allowed to do that.

I wish I had never started doing this.  I now have 4 LEs assembled and working and 2 dongles.  Waiting in the wings is a big pile of wireless,  4 MR16,  & 2 more LEs.  I will be burning my fingers for many hours to come.  A big thanks to all of you here for your help and encouragement.  Haven't had this much fun in years.

Greetings,,,

Bill.  Now that you have enough controllers for the left side of the front of your place, don't forget the right side...  Don't forget the roof either.  By the way, have you thought about your windows and doors?

Thanks Keith,

I needed more pressure.  There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day.

Greetings,,,

Maybe I'm just trying to remember what I need to do.   ;)

You've got something done.  So you'll have something this year to enjoy and possibly build on, whether equipment wise and / or sequencing.  Starting is the hardest part.

BTW I am trying to hunt down the how to use a traditional light with an le or dongle or some how incorporate itinto the show. Can someone point me in the right direction?

It is a three pin I know the five is on the wiki. I could buy the handy dandy adapter...

Not sure what you mean by "traditional light"

The normal output of the LE controller is 120v ac

Greetings,,,

I believe what you want is in the wiki.  Look under FAQ, Entec Pro.  The 5 and the 3 pinouts are the same for the 3 pins you need to send DMX.  Then see the RJ45 connections below.

Ah

Ok the DMX light would be attached to the dmx cable. A simple ethernet cable with a RJ-45 connector on one end and a XLR connector at the other end.

The wiki has a few examples of this

And, in case, it isn't perfectly clear, pins 1, 2, and 3 on the XLR are wired the same, whether it is 3 pin or 5 pin.
