Is it possible to?
« on: December 29, 2012, »
Is it possible to send the signal coming out of my ED/CONDUCTOR wireless to a 4 port hub that is connected to a few more smart strings that will be under battery power. There by using another set of lights as part of the over all system that are separate by space.

No.
Wireless is DMX, smartstrings are pixelnet.

So your saying that pixenet can't be sent over any kind of wireless?

Not at this time.  Only thing you could do is a slave on another 4 port.  Direct etd to wireless to hub isn't possible right now.

So conductor on 4 port with strings and then slave wireless with another 4 port with strings.

So it is possible but DLA hasn't developed one yet?

So the only way within DLA is to use a etherdongle/slave conductor?

yes....but....

there isn't firmware for the slave yet...  (as far as I've seen)

Is there some thing from outside DLA site that will work without a slave conductor?

NO....
Simply as of the todays date a wireless solution for Pixelnet doesn't exist and the slave form of the Conductor is awaiting the final revision of the firmware

Now with that being said you can send DMX wireless so in theory if you wanted to design a wireless transmitter and receiver for Pixel net that would be possible but it is beyond the scope of this board.

RJ would have to create new programming for it, and with what he has on his plate right now I don't for see that anytime in the near future.

Not possible.

The maximum data rate for the wireless modules we use can barely handle 512 channels of DMX at 50ms. To send pixelnet, the event rate would have to drop to 400ms, which is not useful for light animation (2.5 events per second).

Another possible solution would be to get one of those DMX to string drivers that are commercially available.  you could run up to 170 nodes off of a DMX universe. You could use the RX/tx as a receiver for one of these.

I'm not sure this is the right one, best to send them an email to make sure...

if you can keep your remote stuff under 512 channels, then you could use pixelnet on the main part of your display and DMX for this smaller part.
There are smart-string controllers/decoders that can use the same strings but use DMX protocol instead.  The wireless from smart string hub to decoder would do this for you.

I got the hardware going and the software seems to work.
I will be working on the the software now for next year.

Missed this year. But time to moved on for next year.

But I can't leave it alone without bumping up a little.
I know insane.

I was thinking on controlling six horses by wireless.
All part of the whole.

But that would be cool.

Just feeding two smart strings each horse. Trying to keep the cost down to get more people to participate.

I see what your saying. Us DMX for the other horses. Will that look funny with one horse with RGB lights?
I think it may look none uniform.
