no data link to LE. Suggestions?
« on: November 04, 2012, »
I have a working dongle (verified working and sending data to LE that belongs to Jim Nealand). I am now trying to send data to my 2 LEs I just built and I am not getting anything. The LEs test sequences were good.

I installed the driver from FTDI, version 2.8.24.0 dated 4/10/2012.
Port is com25
bits/sec is 115200
data bits 8
parity none

I followed Bill's instructions in his video for setting up the dongle, created a sequence, assigned enttec DMX pro plug-in, tested channels and saw the green light on the dongle flickering/changing intensity.

I am connected from the dongle to the "dmx in" on the LE (either one, I tried both one after another, I did not try them connected together). I tried with the "terminate" jumper on and off.
I tried 3 different cat 5 cables. Starting channel on the LE is one and my test sequence starts at channel 1. I am not getting data to the LE.

Any idea what I might me missing?  Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
AL.

It is not. Initially the port was automatically assigned at com13 but that port is also assigned to a toshiba bt (bluetooth). I then manually assigned 25, which one of the options available. Problem could be right there, I do not know.

Can I tell a big lie? "I swear, I swear, the jumpers were on. Who took them off?" Thanks sjb, that's all what it was. Very simple.
Please tell me I am not the only one who did this! :-[
This is really great, all these little leds are working fine. Only left is to connect the cords and check if I have power out of each channel. Making progress one step at a time!

i did 16 v3 ssc mods last week

did the hardware part of the mod
then flashed them with the pickit.

then just went and tried them with a test sequence.

was wondering why 4 didn't work...   they had the program jumper on.
took them off, and they started working when i tested them again.

Not saying that I have done it  <fp. <fp., but why do you think it is always the first question I ask. This and try another cable. But you said you had done that.

Great to hear it is all working.
