Since I'm just getting started with the Christmas lights, my goal is just to get a system up and running.  I'll be building up an Etherdongle, Express and a couple of Aethers.  I'll be using the setup for Halloween as well so I'll need to spend time programming for both.

Well, as always, I hope my list isn't bigger than my ability to get it done:)

1.)  Finish Firework pole with RBG strip star on top
2.)  Add second color to trees in my yard.
3.)  Re-layout controller positions in yard to reduce power cords
4.)  Build plywood Christmas presents to hide controllers in!
5.)  Add some traditional arches
6.)  Add an RGB pixel arch
7.)  Add some NorthPoles to go with the Arches
8.)  Put new songs in the show
9.)  Become a much better sequencer:)

Mike.

It is going to be an active year for me.
1. Add a 12' Mega tree ( all ready have a 18')
2. add another spiral tree with 16 ch,. of horizontal lights
3. change my 9 super string roof lights over to 5M RGB LED's
4. Change my 7 tomato cage trees to 3 color LED & add 5 more
5. Build 4 MR16 controllers ( 3 all ready done)
6. Build 3 LE express controllers.
7. Build enough TX/RX wireless to run new additions.
8. Build an Ether Dongle

That is all I can think of now but I know there will be more

Create a mega tree using cheap flex strips -- they are now $22 each on ebay and I couldn't resist :)

Do you have a link for these?

Make sure you understand what you are getting! these are not the same as what people are going to think they are.

A single color RGB strip that could be DMX controlled would be nice if there was a considerable savings over a fully controllable strip.  The problem is it seams that there isn't a substantial saving over a fully controllable strip.

Be my guest.  I "borrow" ideas from everyone on this board, on a regular basis it would be nice to be borrowed from for a change. :D

I would call these "DUMB" RGB strips - no chips - they are controlled by voltage lvl only, 4 wires.  No pixelnet method exists to control these (DMX out from active hub - yes), you can use the cheap $7 DMX controller out there and inject power - this is why I think RJ calls his "SMART" - hence the control chips in them....

I am thinking the same way - $24 for strip, $7 for controller, $14 for power supply plus shipping - and the whole string changes at the same time - like SSC string mode.
