Price for mine for as is, (could work with a few less components but would not be as cool) for 1 was 12.36 + TAX + PCB + (SHIPPING = $0 LOCAL PICKUP but time and gas we won't count) price for mouser 100 is like $773.50 + TAX. With out the extra components would save .40 at 100. But I think the killer would be the PCB.

i hear ya...  pcbs are expensive...     unlesss...   you can make it small enough that you have many boards on each "design" that they run.

Aether2s have an integrated controller, so no need for a dumb string controller in that case.

if you build your own flood out of 5050s, the dumb string controller would certainly be useful.

your more likely to get a response using pm for that type of question.

Looks like they will need a passive splitter to send the DMX on to the next controller.

No, I guess not. As shown, it has a hard connected Terminate resistor.

When building something similar I use 2 pigtails connected to the board together...  or i use a pigtail (female) and a rj45 connector (male) so that I can string them from one to the next.

I find it more convenient to build them into the lighting element this way to avoid the need for splitters.

the problem with trying to send the data on to another dumb string controller is when you're usung the cable to provide power for say a full flex strip, you max out the power in the cable that you can't much more more in the next device.

read my description of a "power injector" in the other thread.

with each new injector added to the dmx string, it drops whatever power arrives from upstream, so it will not attempt to stretch the power to service additional dmx elements.

it does require that you budget your power consumption throughout the dmx string to know when a new injector is required.
