3/4 CPVC cross
« on: April 18, 2013, »
OK. I have searched everywhere in the area. Do they even make a CPVC cross? PVC YES, CPVC, not even special order. Looking online, The only thing I can find is for sprinkler systems, Bright red and about $20 each. Right now I am using 2 90s, but not holding up too well. Looking for 40.
Have Fun!

The order of CPVC crosses arrived today. >.d9

They are not the same size as CPVC you get at. the hardware store.
More like 1 inch. <fp.

I think I will have to figure out a way to make crosses out of 90s of Ts.

I hate to ask this one....sure your pipe is 3/4" cpvc? I've been searching around some and could not find anything that said there are two CPVC standards....I'd probably contact the company and ask before I bought anymore for fear there is more than one standard if a 3/4" cpvc fitting did not fit my 3/4" cpvc pipe.

Albeit I don't know everything about plumbing, that is an odd fitting. The tee in questing looked like a tee used for sprinkler systems @3/4 " the schedule is different on the two pipes.
Its the most wonderful time of the year.

They are both 3/4 cpvc. The cross is for sprinkler systems, and there is more than 1 standard for this pipe. CPVC is only the material it is made of. I am no pluming expert and have ordered another brand of crosses, will know soon if these are correct.

I received an email today confirming my order for 3/4 PVC crosses. I replied that I ordered PVC. They replied that they did not have PVC crosses, and are happy to refund my order.

Looks like I will have to figure out an easy way to make crosses out of 2 T's or 2 90's.
Have Fun!

Do you actually need it to be a cross or just need to make a cross shape with 4 pieces of CPVC?

I think you meant CVPC is what you ordered.

Do you have a large investment in the CVPC pieces you are trying to put INTO the crosses in either time or money?  Otherwise I think I would punt, and buy PVC pipe to replace the CVPC and go on that way.

BTW are the CVPC ones smaller or larger than the standard PVC?

If smaller wrap black electrical tape around a few times, works great for dust collectors, don't see why it would not work for a holiday display.

If it is larger, get a cap, drill right in the middle (maybe get a couple) so you can make a "mandrel" for the drill, and then you can sand down using the drill for power the too large pipe end to fit into the crosses you can find.

A picture is enclosed of a fitting that you could possibly  bolt together to make a cross.. it is a standard cpvc fitting available at all hardware stores.

If it is just the cross shape, and not actually a functioning CPVC cross....get a small block of wood and drill some holes in it to fit the CPVC pipe...glue and done....I'd drill straight through the block so you don't have to worry about any alignment issues.
