Title: Has anyone seen or tried these from Ray's store?

100nodes DC12V input TM1804 pixel smart node,IP68 rated

For the most part, they seem similar to the ones in the Wiki:

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/100-node-LED-pixel-string-DC12V-input-new-model-IP68/701799_495658159.html (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/100-node-LED-pixel-string-DC12V-input-new-model-IP68/701799_495658159.html)

100 node LED pixel string ;DC12V input;new model,IP68;TM1804IC

However, in the product description, it states:

Product Description

Since it says this one is compatible with DMX 512, then does that mean that it will not work with the smart strings?

I liked these because they could be mounted flat (I know there is a technical term but I'm having a senior moment).

Thanks.

Jason,
I used these exclusively for the SSCv4 beta.  IMO they are the approved DIYLA strings (12V 1804IC) with a different mounting style.  They work perfectly and in fact I will be using close to 1,000 this year (if my order ever ships  ;D)  The flat mounting is why I went with them too.  Anymore questions, just ask.

Is the 0.3 draw correct per node om those? I read that Ray may have changed the LED bulb that change the current draw to 0.67 watts.

I think the draw is still .3W for these.  I ran 100 of them off a SSCv4 all summer during beta and no issues.  If they really draw .67 then I suspect I would have blown fuses or other weirdness.  In fact, I am planning on running full strings of 128!  http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/128nodes-DC12V-input-WS2811-pixel-smart-node-IP68-rated/701799_739433953.html (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/128nodes-DC12V-input-WS2811-pixel-smart-node-IP68-rated/701799_739433953.html)

Very true. Unless there has been new changes every thing should be OK.

So I would use the SSC with pixelnet to control them?

I just wanted to confirm, because the whole DMX in the description threw me off.

Thanks.

Yes, pixelnet for our purposes.

That's scary.  Although the description does seem correct for the 1804.  I wonder if it's just a reused URL.

When I place my orders with Ray I send a word doc with the links pasted into it.  I have seen bad URLs more than once.  When I order something with a bad URL I add corrective info about the item to clarify what I want and my orders have been ok.  Ordering from Ray is not without it's challenges...   ;D

Yes it is. You need to over do the information part.

On a bit of an aside, how do you all order from Ray?  Do you order directly from the aliexpress shopping cart or is there some other method you use?

Thanks.

I email him a text or word document with a detailed description of what I want. He then sends me a PI(invoice). I pay via the Paypal address in the invoice making sure to put my PI number in the note on Paypal. Then I email Ray letting him know in have paid.

+1 and check back in a couple of days to make sure all was understood and check on the stock status of what you wanted.  He won't necessarily let you know he is waiting 2 weeks on this piece or that piece.

Standard verbiage on my letter is to advise if items are NOT in stock and an estimated ship date.

How do I contact him?  What is Ray's email?

I've seen all kinds of messages on the board about emailing him, but I can't find his email address listed anywhere.

Thanks.
