if i have a small diameter arcylic tube square shaped, 1/2" OD, 3/8" ID
in theory, could i place tape over the hole in the end (to close the hole), then coat with plastidip, or liquid electrial tape?
EDIT: to make it waterproof in the rain
-
It might work, I have 2 concerns though. A lot of things end up being permeable and not actually waterproof so you might want to consider that. Also, will what ever you use adhere to the acrylic?
Lights and acrylic sounds interesting, I am sure everyone would like to see pictures when you get it finished.

it's related to my freestyle project in the freestyle forum, the acrylic is a clear square tube.

You could always use end caps like these: http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-15010/Tubes/1-2-Clear-Caps Which leads me to the clever way David the creator of LSP used to protect his RGB pixels, he used florescent tube guards: http://www.1000bulbs.com/product/332/PLAS-100300.html with accompanying clear cover caps: http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-15012/Tubes/1-1-2-Clear-Caps you can see a video of his display and his explanation here: http://www.lightshowpro.com/christmas/2357-2011-rgb-display.html
UPDATE: just re-read they are square... contact a plastic distributor and see if they have a square cap or do a google search for square caps for plastic tube and there are lots of different choices.

why not just use a little silicone it is clear and a sealant no tape needed
-
i was thinking about tape, to close the hole so that the too much sealant didn't run down the tube.
-
How about cutting strips of plastic and then cut it into squares. Then use silicone to seal the plastic and tube together

We use an acrylic epoxy for making repairs at work. Trust me, its water tight.

We made some 48" clear round plastic tubes with leds in them; that goes into our big ouk tree. We just wraped them with electrical tape to make a cap. But those caps on that link would work alot better.
